Active Bethel Community’s General Meeting with ABC Executive Board Elections will be held on TODAY, October 18 from 7:15-8:45pm in person at Petersen Barn in the Main Hall.

To be nominated to be on the ABC Executive Board, all you need to do is show up at the meeting. You can nominate yourself! Prepare a one-minute introduction with why you would like to make a difference in Bethel and the position you would like to hold.

All members of ABC attending the meeting will be voting to elect their Executive Board consisting of TWO Co-chairs, ONE Secretary, ONE Treasurer and EIGHT Members-At-Large.

Membership in ABC is open to any resident, property or business owner within the neighborhood boundaries: ABC shall encompass the area bounded on the east by US Highway 99; on the south by the Union Pacific Railroad Coos Bay line; on the west by Green Hill Road; and on the north by Clear Lake Road.

Any member, who is eighteen (18) or older, is eligible to vote and is entitled to one vote.

Condensed Description of Elected Offices from the Active Bethel Community (ABC) Bylaws:

The principal officers of ABC shall consist of the two (2) Co-chairs, Secretary, and Treasurer, each of whom shall be elected for one year and who shall hold office until their successors are elected and qualified.

At least one Co-chair shall preside at all meetings of the Executive Board and General Meetings. The co-chairs shall have general supervision of the affairs of ABC, and serve as the primary contact persons for, and liaison with, the City of Eugene.

The Secretary shall keep minutes of all Executive Board and General Meetings. The minutes will be available for the next subsequent Executive Board meeting for review and approval.

The Treasurer shall have the custody of all monies and securities of ABC and shall keep regular books of account, including filing federal and state tax-exempt filings.

ABC will also have Members-At-Large. A maximum of 8 Members-At Large may serve during the same one-year term and will be elected at the same time as the officers.

After the Elections, we will hear from Ward 8 City Councilor Randy Groves who will give us an update on the Neighborhood Planning Proposal that was discussed in the City Council Work Session earlier that day. The UO Museum of Natural and Cultural History will then present findings from a reconnaissance-level survey that was conducted of the Bethel Area that studied properties for potential historic significance. They will discuss with us how we would like to see this information and findings used in the future.
